The New England topo map for Garmin is finally available! Currently it includes Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
Connecticut and Rhodes Island will be included in the next release!

These are great!  I've been waiting for this for years.

I notice contour intervals for NH are 50' while they are 40' for MA, while the Garmin contours are 40' for NH (in their National Parks series).  It would be nice to have 40' or better contours throughout some day.

I usually make one release of this map each year. The reason for the difference in contours is just to reduce the amount of computing power needed to produce the map. I will try to fix that in the next release scheduled for Q3 of this year.

Hello I am new to this forum and to using a GPS.  I have a Garmin Nuvi and I would like to add this Topo map to it.  I have downloaded it and see it is a gathering of .img files.   How do I install this onto my GPS??

Thanks!

~ Phil

This is something I have not tried. I shall do that and get back.
One thing you have to remember. This map is NOT routable and if you put it on your nuvi, you are not going to get driving directions.

Hello Pascal thanks, yes I understand it is not routable.  Being able to see where tote roads go and that we could ride them and it come out some where would be a big help.

Did you try using MapSource? With MapSource you can select which block or .img to download to your device.

Do you have MAP SOURCE installed on your system? When you run the installer this map will register itself with MS. You can select the map using the top left pull down menu. You should see "NewEnglandtopo".

If you need to install MS, here is a good link: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/tutorials/how-to-install-mapsource-if-it-didnt-come-with-your-gps/

Great MAP! Noticed that Umbagog Lake in NH is missing.

I will look into that. All the water data comes for the Fed database and I do not see why a lake would be missing.
