Could you list websites where we can find layers for the topo maps?

Yes, this is something I forgot to include. Will do that later today or tomorrow.

AFAIK, you cannot download topo maps to your gps with ExpertGPS. The only thing you can do is to plot your routes.

Thank you for the wonderful gift of the free 1:24,000 NHtopo map. Not to be ungrateful, but I note the transportation layer has numerous discontinuities in state roads (what NH considers Class I & II), town roads (Class V), and railroads. For example, look near Ossipee (43N41 71W07), and there are pretty obvious gaps in Routes 16, 171, 28, and the RR. I can’t tell from the list of data sources where the transportation layer came from, and if the problem is in the source data, or in the processing involved in making the maps. If it’s a source data problem, as steve_jr pointed out, the GRANIT site has downloadable shape files, for state roads & railroads.

Thanks again.

The transportation layer comes from the census.gov web site. I will release soon a new version that uses the 2008 Tiger shapefiles. I will see if the problem is fixed there.

I see the gap on Hwy 16b. It is called Chocorua Mtn Hwy, then the gap is called, Hwy 16b, then it is called again Chocorua Mtn Hwy. Is the gap a new section of the hwy? It looks like the Chocorua Mtn Hwy stops, merges onto Hwy 16 b (we can see the exchange).

There is a 2.5 mile section of road called 16B, near the intersection of Rt 25 East. It is the old Route 16, before the road was straightened, near Center Ossipee. The map also shows a gap in 16B, near Indian Mound Golf Course. IRL there are no gaps. There are more obvious gaps south of there, near Duncan Lake. Rt 16 (called either Chocorua Mtn Highway or White Mtn Highway), Rt 28 (called Center St), Rt 171 (called Water Village Rd), and the railroad, all show significant gaps on the map, that don't exist on the ground.
