The scope manufacturers claim the SG scopes are built extra strong to take the recoil generated by heavy shotgun loads. I do not know if this is true or just marketing hype. A SG can kick (or push more than kick) really hard if you are firing slugs. How does that compare to magnum calibers?
But there are differences. You are not going to use your SG past 100 yards. For that reason you do not need quite as much magnification. Also the scopes are usually set for 75 yards parallax and have more eye relief to protect against the longer push of the recoil. You do not need fancy reticles (BDC, mildot, etc.)
